Intro Letter

My name is Allison Meredith. I was born at Stanford University Hospital in 1986. I was raised in Murrieta, California from two years old until I graduated high school. I have watched that town go from a small country town to a busy city. I moved to San Marcos my freshmen year of college and lived in the dorms for two years. I have one brother, who recently moved out to San Marcos as well. I currently have three part time jobs and I am a full time student. Pretty busy life, as most of you all can relate to. I live with five girls in a house walking distance to the campus. There is not a dull moment at home… We recently got a mini doxie puppy. What a handful!!! In my spare time I enjoy hanging out with family and friends.
I am sorry to say that I am a PC person. One of my jobs involves mixing music for cheerleading, and a Mac is much more suitable for that. If I could do it all over again, I would love to start with a Mac; but old habits die hard. Technology is a very important part of my life. I communicate solely through email at my different jobs, and mixing music is done completely on the computer. I also use the internet for keeping up on the news, weather, and traffic. Without technology my life would be a complete mess.
In the College of Education Mission Statement, I find the phrase “We are committed to diversity, educational equity, and social justice, exemplified through reflective teaching, life-long learning, innovative research, and ongoing service” most important. This part of the mission statement stands out for me not only because of the commitment to diversity but mostly because of the example that we make through life-long learning and ongoing service. I feel that it is very important for all teachers and future teachers to realize that they are molding the lives of young children in and outside of the classroom and it is a life-long commitment. I am very pleased with my decision to attend Cal State San Marcos, although the reasoning behind that decision was pretty lame. I applied and was accepted to Long Beach State, San Diego State, and Sacramento State… not wanting to move too far from home and being very pleased with the on-campus living situation I made my decision to attend San Marcos. I do not have any regrets, and love every minute here.
